This is the closest I have come to changing the Nahhh to an Eeeeh. It was also the most aggravated I have been since I watched the UK v Ohio football game a couple of years ago. Even down by four with 2 minutes to go I didn’t have much hope for pulling out a win. That is a very unusual feeling for me regarding the basketball team. As a matter of fact, it’s one of the only times I have felt like there was no chance. Tack another L up on the board simply because they couldn’t manage to play consistently for any extended period of time. Couple of notes in bullet form and in no particular order.
- Jodie Meeks (still!) can not pass the ball.
- Backdoor cut for layup #1. Damn, can’t let that happen.
- Joe Crawford is a frickin’ basketball chameleon, alternating between scrub and stud.
- Please stop trying to pass the ball to Woo in the lane.
- Alan Cutler is in Knoxville can’t wait to see how he wraps this up (I admit I’m obsessed).
- Backdoor cut for layup #214. Shoot me in the face.
My feeling pretty much from here on out is that if you don’t like Tubby, and you have every right to have that feeling, that you have to root AGAINST Kentucky in the remaining games. Tubby will not be fired for simply going .500 the rest of the way. If you really want change in the captain’s chair (and in your mind) have the best interest of the program at heart, you should be hoping to finish off this season 0-7 and then crash and burn in the SEC tourney.
At that point you are looking at an 18-13 team with only a marginal shot at making the big tournament. So what do you say? Are you willing to admit that you hope that’s what happens?

It is time for a change! The programe is suffering it is reaslly a shame whene you here kentucky people say they used to be a good progrme! Tubby must go not that he is a bad person he is not the right guy for Uk sorry. I have been a kentucky fan all my life I thout I would never not look forward to watching a game but I have reached that point. I turened the station tonight I just cant watch Im sick of it. Mitch Barnhartt will never fire Tubby Smith. In effect, we have thousands of UK fans on the internet making a fool out of themself and the program whose sole purpose is to get Tubby fired. Hence, the pressure keeps on building, but nothing is going to give and Tubby will NOT de fired. It hurts recruiting, it hurts team morale, and quite frankly, it is a distraction. The sooner people accept that Tubby isn’t going anywhere, the sooner UK will move forward.

What can you say… this is the exact same predicament Gator fans were faced with when Zook was grinding Florida football into the dirt in 2004. I couldn’t bear to root against my team, but I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for Sylvester Croom… his Mississippi Bulldogs put a bullet in the head of the suffering Zook regime and opened the doorway to salvation via Urban Meyer. I am officially rooting against UK in every remaining game, including the SEC tourney.
I’m tired of this team killing me every week.
If they dump their remaining SEC schedule + first-round L in the SEC tourney, that would put them at 18-13 (7-10 SEC) and on an 8-game losing skid come tourney time. And probably 0-5 or 0-6 vs. Top 25 teams.

I watched the game last night, and i use the word game lightly, and was amazed to see that there is absolutely NO defense being played at all. Do the coaches at UK, and lets not forget there is more than one, have something against playing a 1-3-1 ZONE or any zone for that matter. I was so embarassed by what I saw that I just couldn’t believe the coaching staff couldn’t make adjustments. If I hear one more person say something about KY being a strong defensive team, I think I am going to SCREAM. The only way UK will ever get rid of Tubby is if the faithful high ticket holding people STOP GO TO THE GAMES. I believe this would be such an embarassment to the athletics deptment that they would have no choice if over half of the Rupp Arena faithful didn”t show. The past two games alone have been enough to make me a Tennessee fan!!

Kentucky hasn’t played much defense against a good team in years. I never thought Smith’s teams did a good job of defending the three. Once again, we could take this crap every once and a while but mediocrity has become the norm at UK now, opposing teams don’t fear Rupp Arena or us. ratwell is exactly right, our staff is incapable of making adjustments and we don’t have any leadership to win close games such as we could have against Vandy, Georgia, Florida and Tennessee if some of the upperclassmen would step up.

Actually, fans named John who don’t know much about basketball accept this crap because they jumped on the bandwagon during the Pitino years. I want UK to be a champion again, or at least be respected as one. Any true fan as you say, would. Blindly following UK just because they put on the Wildcat jersey is stupid. I’ve been supporting Tubby for 9 years now but I just cant do it anymore. I would agrue with people who didnt support him but now I’m over the edge. This just isnt Kentucky basketball. Every year good old Ten Loss Tubby has the same quality teams. Even in the years past when we’ve had good teams, the cats still manage to break our hearts. And this year, losing to Florida, ok, losing at Tennessee, ok, but losing to Vandy at home and Georgia, thats just terrible. I miss The Unforgettables of Pitino of the 90’s who never lost at home, even during a down year. Tubby is a great coach, but not at Kentucky. We need change, now.

I would like to see pelphrey or Ford coach here, eventually. Tubby presents himself well as a coach but the results are what matters. You know we’ve never lost to a school six straight times? We could do that this year if we don’t beat Florida at Florida. Not to mention the unexplainable streak against Vandy.

As I have said Tubby is a good caoch not for Uk. For you folks who like this kind of basketball well you can support a losser programe. But I guess we all have been the last 2 seasons supporting Kentucky . Im sorry but Tubby is not good for the programe. What is really going on behind closed doors? why are players leaving, and how come a highly sought after players never live up to are expectations?. All the blue chipers we have gotten under Tubby never live up to what they are suppossed to, and iIm tired of hearing theres always next year. Im also tired of taking heat from Florida and Tennesse. i agree with the writer i try and watch the game but its no fun when you cant hit the side of a barn… we use to have a shot at the championship at least ever few yrs but you cant even think about it now… gee we have middle of pack players and uk will be that also.. i wonder if tubby can look at kids and tell if they will ever do anythign i n college… i. e geting the kid for bowling green and the one from glasgow.. well he keeps signing them bec thats all that will even look at uk now with the way his system.. i liek tubby its just his game and his players all mniddle of the pack!!!!

If you expect to go to the big dance after the performances of this team then you are truly a die hard fan. But being a die hard fan don’t you also have PRIDE. I have been watching Kentucky basketball since the 1960’s and this is the first time that I have actually found myself cheering for another team. Some might call me a traitor, but I myself have come to realize I cheer for other teams because there has been absolutely nothing to cheer about here. I think most fans long for the GLORY DAYS of this great program. As a fan you should not only support the team but also but honest enough to know that what you are watching is not good basketball. We will never draw in good recruits let alone Great recruits, with the coaching staff we now have. I would like to see more recruiting from within our state.

I’ve heard that about Tubby going to Atlanta every year. I think Tubby would be a better NBA coach simply because good NBA coaches don’t coach offense and tubby has no offensive strategy. I don’t see how you can say we played good in the UT game. Once again, we made stupid JV turnovers inside the last 2 minutes of the game. There’s no way on God’s green earth I see us going 11-5 in the SEC. I wish we’d go 12-4 but at Florida is a loss and we’ll be the underdog at Florida and probably against Alabama. You can listen to games at Rupp Arena and tell people have lost their support. It’s not loud and intimidating anymore, it’s passive and boring, just like UK’s games are. In the past two years we’ve had walk-ons and scrubs in our starting line-up while former Mr. Kentucky’s are leading the SEC in scoring. Tubby’s teams are always good enough not to get him fired but never good enough to win it all or make the final four. Two years ago we beat E. Kentucky, Cincy and UTah to get to the elite 8. None of them were ranked. In 1998, we lost several games and probably weren’t the best team in the nation, we just got hot at the right time. The first 3 years I loved Smith, but he has consistenly put an average product on the floor at the University with the most all-time wins. Why should a true UK fan accept that?

I was planning on attending the Ky vs Ga game but right now I am very tempted to just give the tickets away. I know that sounds harsh, but a driving time of 3 hrs one way just seems a bit much to watch this caliber of basketball team.

So far we’ve said that we have no defense, and that we have no offense. Basically the program is going down the drain because of lack of effort on the parts of our coaching staff to recruit. We got Brandon Stockton when he was Kentucky Mr. Basketball, and he turned out to be a bust at the college level. That is sad because he is from my town, but the truth hurts. Now, we’ve rejected any interest Corey Brewer may have had in UK and what’s he doing in Florida? Winning Championships and waving them in our faces with 3 point [haha you got close how sweet] wins, but they are still wins. We should have got Lofton. Why do we get people no one has ever heard of instead? Why do I see Rondo getting his shots thrown into the crowd by Dwane Wade and think “Man I cant believe he went to Kentucky” and watch Morris play and get Noah and Horford in foul trouble, shoot outstanding for what the Randolph Morris standard is but still have a lazy, dead, uninterested look in his eyes like “Man I could be getting paid to sit on an NBA bench” I’m tired of being decent and coming up short and almost losing to UConn by two and UCLA by 5 and Florida by 3. We can beat any of those teams with more effort, better recruiting, and more willingness to give up the ball. When you watch teams like florida play, every player on the team isn’t trying to take every shot. When UK is down to Florida by three, Ramel Bradley goes down the court and takes the shot when all 24,000 people in Rupp know its gonna be him because its obvious. Hes double-teamed, shot is off, we lose. Why? I miss Tayshaun.

Its like the staff actually cant see: Hey we’re losing ball games. Not because we cant win, but because we’re not winning. How much harder is it to put effort into what we do. Anyone who is in love with Tubby can say whatever they want about it being tough or its not time for a change or whatever, but its obvious. If it’s not time for a change staff wise, its time for a change attitude wise. We have no attitude. And what little we do have is passive.
EX: Oh…I was gonna shoot that but you can have this ball. Take it down there and oop it to Noah and let him go crazy like hes a beast or something when he can really be controlled and contained and limited. I dont want to win. I once was with you, our faithful optimist. My heart wanted to believe we were only hitting a rough patch and we would return to championship basketball, but after giving tubbyball YEARS to win me over - my gut feelings (and my eyes) were right all along, the program is slipping. I hate to admit we are not an elite program, but there is no logical argument to prove otherwise.
Now most of you are waiting for the he sucks, that guy sucks, blah, blah - but if anyone wants to, lets talk basketball and talk about exactly why we are not successful. For example here are a few kernals to chew on: recruiting (do you think we could win if our sophmore class would step up and take over?), offense (have you ever seen a horizontal offense?), or defense (do you notice how opponents hit big 3’s down the stretch?).

OK…I’ve kept my mouth shut now for about 3 seasons and the Alabama game was the last straw…I’ve always said nothing because I figured that surely to God Tubby will come up with something to change his teams attitude and performance the way he did at half time at Vandy that year…It’s not that recruiting All Americans is the answer…but the All Americans that show heart and some intellegence that a common goat has is what u got to recruit…basketball is NOT all athleticism it’s proper thinking too and a hustling heart that jus hates to lose… I mean these guys are too lazy to set screens, cross the lane and keep moving….they stand around like a bunch of blue traffic cones that coaches use in practice and the opposing teams run around them for latups and dunks just like they’re practicing…Tubby is jus standing there with this dumb-ass expression on his face…never calls a time-out to nip a common mistake in the bud…Pitino would call a timeout with jus 10 seconds into the first half if the players started making stupid mistakes that they already been chewed up over and practiced improving on it …Tubby jus sits on the bench and waits for them to make the mistake 4 to 6 times before he finnally gets off his ass to call a time-out…I’m not watching UK anymore this year…(YOU HEAR ME Bitch Burnheart)….I could care less if we get Billy D. but I think John Calipari would be the best choice for us…John Pelphry would take the passion of KY ball alot more seriouly since he’s an unforgettable and a KY boy too….I’m jus scarred he’s jus not ready yet….I think Pitino would come back because he wants to deep down…he’s amitted that it was the biggest mistake leaving KY, beside not putting Pelphry on Hill and telling Feldhause to take an angle on the ball if it gets in the air an intercept it before it got into Christian L.’s hands…I even think maybe feel around with Pat Riley and see if he’s sick of the NBA….But if the tendencies this year still spiral like they have been it’s jus time to let it go and go thru with the chance…..MItch I hope u read this or someone tells u but find your balls and tell Tubby last season was uacceptable and this season is the same..tell him to start talking to the Atlanta Hawks again because he needs to resign…..I’m finished, sick, and tired of no-heart,no-pride, lackluster buch of players who have no pride of the uniform they wear and a lazy, hard-headed coach who the game has jus passes up

Tubby Smith has to have the worst offensive mind set for a coach in history. His teams are playing with absolutely no heart. I dont think they’ve won a game this year where they haven’t had overwhelming talent. He consistantly turns top notch recruits into duds with his lame system, so who can blame him for the poor recruiting classes. No one wants to come here anymore because the expectations are too high. I think Tubby has one more year to turn it around and that is it.

Well, fellow Cat Fans, another loss. This troubles me deeply to watch a 4th
straight loss to Vandy. Another meltdown with the game on the line. No recruiting to speak of, really nothing positive in our future. No 2nd option when the game was on the line? Enough is enough…….Too much dribling not enough motion. It’s almost March and there are no chemstry/line-up adjustments made. These are coaching issue’s, thats it no more $ from me or my family. I personally think this website is complete crap and everyone on here is pathetic. I admit that I don’t like the way the program is going, and that my support for Tubby is lessoning by the year. With that being said, a true fan bleeds blue no matter what, and is there during the good and bad times. I honestly have to say that I’ve attended more games this year than any other. Anybody who says they are going to root against UK the rest of the season hoping to get rid of Tubby is not a true fan, and as far as I’m concerned they can go to hell, and maybe jump the pitino bandwagon and become a loserville fan.

FINALLY!! I think the Kentucky fans are PO’ed enough to get Tubby removed. I think he is a good man and would make some other school a good coach. He IS NOT the coach UK needs to put our basketball program back on the map again (and if you think we haven’t become an afterthought to other Division I teams, you need a reality check)
TUBBY! Please do the right thing and resign at the end of this season!!
