If there is one thing that I have learned in life (or at least basketball) is that Canadians should stick with what they know best, bacon, and HOCKEY!!! Go back to Canada Sheray, and leave my team alone, you overated choke artist!!!!

I agree, you’ve had so many years to provide good recruits and to build a team that could take you far in the tournament, and you’ve failed. Time for Kentucky Basketball to move on and find someone who can handle the pressure of winning. Someone who can pull the recruiting team together and go after the Prince’s, Delk’s, and Mashburn’s. A coach who can provide a spark to his team and fans. The excitement isn’t there anymore. Also, we need a coach who can teach how to play defense. Pittino had such sick defenses, most teams they beat scored under 60 points a game. I want to see excitement. I’m from Cincinnati, where most of my friends are UC fans. I got crap for breaking down and getting emotional when UK beat them in the tournament a couple of years ago. I didn’t care. I’ve gotten shit my whole life for being a hardcore Kentucky Fan. I’ve gotten excitement with a few Tubby teams, but that was excitement over big wins. Kentucky Basketball needs a coach that can provide them with excitement for a tournament run, a final four appearance, a championship hope. I don’t feel hope with Tubby. FIRE HIS ASS! I’ve had enough. This is Kentucky Basketball, we bleed for championships, not at large bids to the tournament.

I have never understood what Tubby saw in Sheray either. I have the same opinion about some other older players, but not this freshman class. Granted, they did not play well all season, but there is some promise there. So, maybe Tubby is learning more about recruiting well. I think he it is too soon in this contract to release him. Who would take his place?

Hey people,
quit giving sheray a hard time, first of all, if he wouldn’t have tipped in crawford’s last ditch chance with about a minute in regulation, we wouldn’t have had any chance, …….PERIOD!. Second, stepping out of the lane when jodi was getting ready to shoot the FT, POOR COACHING! Third, why doesn’t tubby use his TO when there is 15 seconds left in OT. If you’re behind, you need to score ASAP. ITS time we TUCK FUBBY and send him somewhere else, let another school or, perhaps, an NBA team be miserable. I can’t bear to watch this crap anymore.

Another great moment in “Tubby Ball”. Where do we start, how about not getting Morris the ball in key possesions or how about FOULING WITH FIVE SECONDS TO GO WITH A THREE POINT LEAD. Even Tubby cant beat us then! 2-7 in 5 point games or less, the only thing worse than Tubby coaching would be his wife!

Well folks…this is my first post on this site. I will say only this-we must recruit the 1-2 year ball player or we will NEVER win another championship. All top 100 or so high school seniors think they are NBA potential whether they are or not. Once we get them here we can change their mind on how long they stay. Do you think the players that go to Duke or NC or Florida plan on staying 4 years….probably not but with a great team, coach and school environment they stayed. I’ll be honest if I was a top 100 recruit I wouldnt want to come and play for Kentucky either. Why would a kid who has NBA potential want to come and play for a defensive schemed team who cant win the tight games and barely scores over 60 points a game . Kids with great skills want to learn NBA ball and we definatly arent playing that here in Kentucky land anymore. This style of ball is boring and no GREAT player would want to be here and no parent in their right mind with all the good players who have came and went due to Tubby ball would risk sending their kid here. I’ll also say that if CM Newton was still AD Tubby Smith would be long gone. Mitch Barnhart needs to make a phone call and learn from someone who is sorely missed.

CM Newton wouldnt have fired tubby yet either. Look how long he kept Bill Curry as UK’s football coach. He was awful! As far as tubby goes, he is a good coach, his style of play is just boring to watch. I don’t think getting rid of Tubby is the answer. Who are you going to bring in? UK is not the job it used to be and who would want to come in when the fans are so quick to call for the coach’s head? Sounds a lot like the Alabama football fans to me! I do think he needs to replace his recruiting coaches though. Tubby can coach, just not recruit. Let someone do the recruiting for him and let him take those players to a final four or possibly another national championship!

You say Tubby can coach, but not recruit. If that’s the case, help me understand why our Juniors are such a disappointment. They were in the top 3 recruiting classes that year. Face it, Tubby is not the great coach that you believe he is.

Morris can be great when he wants, but he is lazy! No other way to describe him. He played great today, but his laziness is not Tubby’s fault. Tubby cant afford to pull him to punish him bc Wu his horrible. Crawford is a solid player. I do think that he would be better in a faster tempo game, but he can still play. Rondo left, not Tubby’s fault. I dont necessarily think Rondo leaving was bad for UK anyway. Yes, UK had a bad season and wasnt any better last season. But if do you remember the other 8 seasons under Tubby? Hes done well. He’s never really had the talent of other teams, but still would win. Everyone is on Billy D’s bandwagon, but for so many years he had the talent, but couldn’t beat Tubby. Every one has ups and downs. This has certainly been a down year along with last season. I just dont think its fair to Tubby to get rid of him just yet. Maybe I’m wrong. But if you must realize that UK is going to look like Alabama in regards to the coaching situation! Answer me this… Who do you want over Tubby? And it must be someone that might actually consider going to UK!

Poor Poor Matt must be a DUKIE in disguise… Ha Ha, just kidding Matt. As far as Bill Curry goes…..that is UK FOOTBAll not basketball. Everyone knows that when CM Newton was AD UK got the best in basketball….now if you were a football fan….sorry about your luck. Myself, I love UK football & basketball. Anyone who doesnt want something different in the entire basketball staff at this point cant be a true fan. Face the truth….noone wants to play for UK because this program is in trouble and everyone knows it. I bet the opposing recruiters for other teams smile from ear to ear when the only one left on the recruits list of possible choices is UK…..how easy to give them the list of player dissapointments, player transfers, and overall poor team performances. Also, lets not forget that those who were smart enough to leave and go to the NBA early have faired pretty well but stunk under Tubby ball.

I am absolutely so furious, I cannot believe I came on the firetubby.com website after they lost to MISS ST in the second round of the SEC tournament and someone posted maybe he’s a bad recruiter he is a good coach. Do you know the tradition, this is the winningest program in college basketball history if you are proud of or accept these results in any way you are not even a UK fan.

You should not have extended the contract on a lousy football coach, why didn’t you lock up Guy Morris, the football game should have remained first of the year this benefitted our awful football program, you need to find a coach within the next 2 months that can deliver a national championship or get the hell off campus

Jeremy I will tell you why he didnt lock morris up. Morris wanted 1,000,000 a year. Brooks came in and took the job for 450,000 a year. And why doesnt anyone mention the 2 free throws that morris missed late in regulation.

Is anyone else getting tired of seeing the BIG EYE stare down from Fubby? Wow now that’s coaching! You could see at the end of the Miss St. game no one wanted to step up and be the man. As for Morris no one will ever confuse him with Mr. Energy, this guy is way to lazy. I believe Uof L’s coach had a problem with one of his freshmen big men earlier this year………he seems to be dooing pretty well recently. But then he has a coach that won’t tolerate his crap. Crawford, Bradley the bench is where these guys need to stay. Thomas and Perry, what disapointments. Play the freshmen let them get seasoned and ready for next year. Alot of people think getting rid of Tubby is a color thing and their right……………..it’s a BLUE THING! Fire his ass.

Losing is OK with Tubby…as long as he gets a tape to analyze and try to make adjustments for the next game.
How about a coach who throws his chair, kicks some butts and takes names every once in awhile.
Tubby’s got no passion to win and his players don’t either.
I repeat, LOSING IS OK WITH TUBBY!! HE CAN MAKE ADJUSTMENTS!!!
I say, we need an adjustment…a coaching adjustment…
I’m an idiot and I know that Meeks should have been alone at the foul line with only 5 seconds left. If everyone had been back, Miss. wouldn’t have even goten the shot to tie…Tubby thought of it about 25 seconds too late, and when he hollared for thomas to get back…bam…game losing lane violation…
Also, what can the COACH be thinking when he gives up MINUTES of playing time with Thomas, Jasper and Orbzut on the floor at the SAME TIME? Talk about NO OFFENSE!!

What game were you babbling buttheads watching?
Sheray Thomas could take any two of your sorry butts to school all day, any day. The man made several great plays - did you see him standing tall, taking the foul under the rim while the two guys who smashed into him fell to the floor?
Tubby took the blame for that, but the game did not ride on that one error. Basketball 101, folks. At least Tubby’s guys were guarding the miracle three-pointer at the buzzer, instead of handing him the ball like Pitino did in ‘92.
“Not getting Morris the ball in key possessions?” … duh … Morris had career highs and was the designated receiver for the last play.
I would say the Cats getting a season-high 11 steals means really bad defense …
This is all a part of the education of champions. Let’s watch to see how these guys react, and if they learn something, and how they do in the big dance next week - and how much of this carries over into next year. If these guys have the right hearts, this loss will be a learning experience with great dividends down the road.
BTW, every college basketball expert in the country says Tubby is one of the best coaches in the game these days. So, unless you are a working sportswriter for a major media outlet, a former pro player, a big-school coach or player, or some other person who has earned the right to critique Tubby, you might want to learn something before you start whining.
The late great Grady Stumbo once said: “You can sit in the garage for three years, but that don’t make you a Buick.”
You can put on a blue T-shirt and a blue wig and have a drink of ’shine and a toke of bluegrass, but that don’t make you a baller - or an expert.
The guys who put on the blue and take the court for Kentucky are working hard to win games, and deserve your respect and support. Nothing less.
If you don’t like the way the guys are playing, or the decisions the coach is making, then go right on over to Memorial Coliseum and walk on yourself. Or send your resume to Mitch and get an interview for Tubby’s job. I am sure you will just shake the whole wide Wildcat world with your wondrous wizardry. Get lives, losers! Go Cats! Go Tubby! Go Kentucky!

Yea. It seems to me that EVERYONE is blaming Sheray. Yea, he was stupid enough to leave the lane, but I watched the game, then I watched ESPN for like 4 hours afterwards trying to figure out what went wrong and I saw the highlights from the UK game like 50 times. Here is what happened…
We’re up 3
Everyone lines up for the freethow.
All we have to do is make the freethrow and we pretty much win.
Tubby is standing on the sidelines yelling at Sheray to come to him.
The ref passes the ball to the line.
While it is on it’s way, Tubby continues to yell.
Being Canadian and all, Sheray becomes confused and just runs to Tubby.
Yea, Sheray was stupid enough to leave the lane, but Tubby, who should know you cant leave the lane during a freethrow, WAS TELLING HIM TO DO IT!!!
Is he so unaware of what is going on on the court that he has to tell players to commit penalties that are goig to lose a game that we pretty much have sealed with 5.1 seconds left and shooting freethrows?
I blame Sheray, but before the player, I blame the coach. In case nobody knows, thats TUBBY SMITH.
I am officially raising money for the buyout after that game. That is the biggest load of crap I’ve ever seen. It makes you wander if Tubby didn’t come to UK just to ruin our reputation and throw our program out the window.

I have read most of the comments on this subject. Being in class during the game I didnt realize til I saw the highlights what had actually occured. Checking my phone constantly during class to see what the score was I realized Kentucky played NO DEFENSE !!! Every time I updated the score the last play said Foul on kentucky. When I saw us lose because of a LANE VIOLATION I realized its time for a change at the top. Sometimes it just needs to be done. Dont get me wrong I think Tubby is a good coach and can teach players good fundementals. This isnt the 90’s anymore. Players are looking at where they can go and make it to the next level(NBA). The style of play is just plain bad. Randolph Morris is by far one of the best big men in the country=Give him the Damn ball in OT. A middle school coach would know where a mismatch was and obviousely MSU couldnt match up with him all game. Our freshmen class has a lot of potential and hopefully Morris doesnt leave(again). Yea Bradley had a bad game, It happens. Joe crawford has improved but what has happend to the Ron Mercers and Tony Delks at UK. I started loving UK B-ball when they would run it up the court and not be hesitant to drop a 3. UK was known for jump shooters(walker,mashburn,delk). There needs to be a change. Sorry Tubbs its just that time. Good coach but when it comes to championships its NOT GETTING DONE!

There also has been rumors about Mike Bray being a good replacement for Tubby. Being from South Bend I must say that bray has made ND a contender when it comes to B-Ball, BUT I think its time for a true Blue to come home and take over. I also think True Blue Reality Check needs to realize that Tubbs has been there for what 10 years now and Oh wait he won a championship with whose players????? Oh and the defense comment. Look at the team fouls and you tell me if that was good D. Just because you steal the ball doesnt mean your not fouling. I have played d2 ball so stop all that noise. The bottom line is the coaching is BAD….its simple. My middle school coach knew that when you leave the blocks during a free throw its a lane violation. True Blue you need to realize whats happening to your beloved program.

Anyone who says Tubby deserves another season has no idea what it means to be a true big blue fan–you’ve clearly never sat on the bathroom floor listening to a UK game on a portable am radio, and needed said bathroom to throw up when they lost–you’ve never recruited a brave soul to watch the Cats on a tv in another room when they were playing like hell and gauged whether they were making a comeback based on the tone of their screams–you’ve never hung a cardboard cut-out of Rick Pitino from the roof of your house to show your disdain over his move to Louisville–shared a recliner with your 80 year old grandmother to watch a UK game on the big screen TV she bought because her eyes were too bad to watch her boys play on her old one–you never lugged a television set into a church so you could play Kentucky beating SU during the reception following your father’s funeral, or snuck a UK hat into his coffin, which was flanked by white and blue flowers, before they lowered it into the ground.
You couldn’t have done these things, you will never do these things, because if you believe Tubby deserves another chance at UKs helm, you dont understand what the Big Blue Nation is all about!

This could be the happiest day of my life. Right up there with my graduation from college, and just behind the birth of my son. Happy trails Tubby—we’ll keep smiling til’ we meet again—then we’ll be laughing!
