WLEX Redeemed?

Looks like LEX 18 ended up breaking the story anyway. Have a look.
The always lovely A Sea of Blue has a summary of that CatsPause.com rumor about Billy Donovan’s deal with UK all but done. Of course, WLEX-18 in Lexington, ran the story for their Monday evening news and are now blaming CatsPause.com for publishing it.
The editors and managers at WLEX have only themselves to blame. Their sports folks should well know that CatsPause.com publishes rumors along with researched facts, and had no business making this top story. Anybody who knows anything about television knows why WLEX went with this rumor: they wanted to be first with the story, so that during the next Sweeps Week, we can see commercials about how WLEX was FIRST with the Billy Donovan story.
Honestly, if Donovan comes to UK, I think WLEX 18 will still run a commercial about that, even though they’ve backtracted from the story.
I just hope Ryan Lemond wasn’t involved with this decision. I’ve enjoyed his friendly & joking presence for WLEX and on radio shows. Instead, I hope that the decision was made by the infamous Snarky Alan Cutler.
Speaking of Dynasty Defending Alan, I have to share this video clip of WLEX breaking the Tubby Smith story. They cut to Alan, but he’s not snarky, he’s giddy as a schoolgirl! (Thanks to WildcatThunder.com for putting this up.)
Anyways, you hear a lot of hyper Wildcat fans spewing a lot of hyper tales about how Billy the Kid has all but signed. This rumor that the UK Fire Marshall has been told to plan for press conference in Memorial Coliseum early next week is by far my favorite.
Meanwhile, every Florida fan I’ve talked to about Billy D leaving — save for Ryan — has stuck their fingers in their ears and screamed. Impossible, a lateral move, they say. I agree that’ll be difficult to sway Billy from his good thing, but I think Kentucky is the one program in the nation that can compete for Billy’s services. Ultimately, some group of fans is going to look really stupid: either the grandstanding “I have a cousin lawyer who knows Billy Bob Joe Bill at UK Athletics” types who are swearing up and down that the Billy Donovan deal is done, or the Florida fans who argue that they are a national power in basketball.
And if Billy stays at Florida, fortunately UK can acquire one of the “Plan B” coaches on the Intern’s list (from over at Kentucky Sports Radio). Although I’d skip Coach Carter and jump straight to Jules Winnfield, who has coaching experience.
Last night at halftime of the LSU vs UK game, ESPN’s Heather Cox was on duty as the sideline reporter and asked a question that John Brady didn’t appreciate very much. Roughly translated by me he said, “Well thats a, thats, a …stupid f**king question.” After his response she tries to ask a follow-up but he will have none of it. I’ll also roughly translate him walking away as “get in the kitchen and make me some pie.”
Check out the video if you were at the game and want to see it for yourself. Even if you saw it the first time it’s still worth a second watch.
So are you ready for some Alan Cutler snarkyness? If you’re not, well to bad. Some sites would call this type of behavior douchebaggery, but you won’t find that kind of negativity on this site. No sir. We will stick with snarkyness. Have a look. Go ahead, it won’t hurt, it’s a really short clip.
Kentucky has been placed on the box of “The Breakfast of Champions®” cereal. Wheaties paid Collegiate Licensing Company $85,000 for the use of the logo and UK will get an 85% cut of that. Read all about it in the HL. Justin White from LEX18 did a live on-air taste test. Check it out.
So I had just finished watching the game yesterday and was writing my little piece for the site when WLEX ran their sports segment. I always like to tune into the news after the game to see Tubby and some of the player’s reactions.
Most of the time it’s Ryan Lemond on the floor at Rupp giving a recap while the UK band is still playing My Old Kentucky Home. Usually I think, “what’s the hurry” how could he possibly have his thought’s prepared 45 seconds after the game is over. I guess that’s why he is one of the nominees for Broadcaster of the Year in Kentucky. I always enjoy Lemond’s reporting because he is usually able to tell a story and make it humorous all at the same time which I think takes a unique talent. Except this time Lemond had desk duty and Alan Cutler was standing outside Rupp. Let’s go to the video. Sorry about the boring Randolph Morris section there in the middle, stick with it and watch all the way to the end.
Do you think he enjoys the wins or the losses more? He really comes off as being a gigantic ass in that clip. Eeemmmbarrrraasssiinnngg
And remember Alan’s #1 secret of being a winner is:
Cut a hole in a bo…. no, no that’s something else. It’s actually:
It’s getting colder out side, we’ve had our first snowfall, and the Christmas holiday is upon us. It’s around this time of year that I like to think about all the good times. So, since the Indiana game is tomorrow I though I’d take the time to show one of my favorite memories. With just a little twist. Here’s what I came up with, have a look.
In case you missed it on LEX18, apparently Alan Cutler has been calling around to check Randolph’s status with some NBA teams. Well, you can just watch the video.
I know everyone just can’t enough of Joakim Noah. I mean come on, after having to watch him when UK played Florida this past season, and then going on to win the SEC championship you would think that would be enough exposure for this annoying guy. Nope, Florida goes on to win the NATIONAL championship and Noah becomes the star during all of this. Unbelievable. I’ll give him credit that he played outstanding during their run but it’s just his attitude I can’t stand.
Not only do you get to see Joakim pound his chest with his fist over, and over, and over again on all the highlights but you get to see his father the Tennis star every five minutes and his about his mother the former Miss Sweden. Ok Jim Nantz we’ve heard this story already, back to the game. So to move along to what this article is all about, more exposure for the Noah family!!! YEAH! Yannick Noah is Joakim’s father. Blah, blah, blah former Tennis star turned hit musician, you’ve heard this I know. But haven’t you wondered what his music sounded like? Well, its your lucky day. I happen to have found a video. Here it is. Enjoy. I guess.
The interview is in French, singing in English.
