Time to go Tubby!!! You can’t recruit and that should be the #1 clause in your contract.

Everybody should mail a pink sheet of paper to Tubby’s office (Mailing address: Memorial Coliseum, Lex., Ky. 40506)as his pink slip.

If UK Basketball was a Fortune 100 company and had stockholders, Tubby and Barnhart would of been fired s long time ago.

ok so I understand this chart and I see what he is trying to prove, but there is a trend happening at uk and it is called losing and losing in convincing fashion. Next year is just going to be worse because all the other SEC teams are getting better. Next thing you know we are 6th in the SEC east and not making the Dance. To me that is unacceptable

I sent the “fire the fans” PDF to this site. The point of this nerdy stat comparison is to show that, when compared against other major programs during the same time period, Tubby’s record is as good as any of the elite coaches, barring only Krzyzewski’s, whose record is supernatural.

So if you fire Tubby, who are you going to replace him with? Somehow, I don’t think Krzyzewski is coming here (nor would he be welcome). So, who else? Billy Donovan? Bill Self? Rick Barnes? Their records are fine, and they would be great coaches here or anywhere, but they have done nothing to show definitive, long-term superiority vs. Tubby. So why make a coaching change when it would be a lateral move at best?

Your flaw in that spreadsheet is that there is no other place but 1st and 2nd in the NCAA Tournament. So In a year that you claim UK was 32 that is an invalid statement, because i would put teams who got beat in the first round ahead of UK. Look at you stats again, Look at the demise that has occurred since Tubby got his own players in, and please don’t say “Well what about 04-05″. Take away the heroics of Sparks (another player that Tubby passed over) and that team wasn’t even that good. So lets look to the future! If we use your stats then UK will be a 32 again this year and no better than a 32 next year, where does that leave us? I will tell you where, it leaves us out in the 2nd round 4 out of the last 5 years. No comparison can be made with the tradition of the UK basketball program and like Dick V said this morning ” If you are not winning the National Championship at Kentucky you are failing” and “Kentucky is the Yankees of college basketball.” I agree with Dick. The seat should be hot and Tubby better dump the staff and hire some guys that are young and energetic. How does if look whwn Seth Davis comes right out and says that it is known that Tubby doesn’t like to recruit and is disorganized. That is terrible! He doesn’t like to recruit. “THAT’S HIS JOB!” Numbers can be bent to show what ever you want them to say. 0-6 VS FL. 0-4 VS VAN. 0-4 VS TEN. 0-7 VS RANKED TEAMS. Enough Said.

I agree that this year and last year are low-points, but every team has 2-3 year stretches like this (except Duke). If we have another season like this next year, I would think major changes would have to be made, but that still might not be justification for firing Tubby. Gary Williams recently had 4 ugly years of apx 20 wins (03, 04, 05, 06) just after his championship season, but now he is having a decent year. Tom Izzo went through 3 down years (02, 03, 04), then he went to the final four. Now he is having a season similar to ours. Would it be rational to fire those coaches? I think basketball is as important to those schools as it is to UK, but I don’t hear people talking nationally about firing those coaches (I guess you hear a little about Williams, but he’s going on 5 not-so-spectacular seasons now, depending on how this one turns out).

I also agree that:
- I hate being 0-4 vs. Vandy and 0-6 vs. Florida. This is the best argument that the Tubby-bashers have!!
- Tubby must recruit some murderous centers/power forwards in order to get us past the elite 8

…but all programs have these kinds of issues in the modern college b-ball world. Again except Duke, but how do you fix that? What coaching-change is the solution to bring us to the same level as Duke?

One thing that I do not agree with: Tubby’s 03, 04, and 05 seasons were fantastic seasons. Final 4 or better would have been icing on the cake, but those were special seasons by any reckoning, especially 03.

Um, so I’m guessing you’re not a football fan? Or a fan of any other UK sport than basketball.

This team is still making the same mistakes now that they were making in December. face it UK fans, Tubby is NOT looked at as a coach will get a kid to the NBA . Next year will be worse! Look at TN football ; they had a 5-6 year and Fullmer made huge staff changes; Tubby hires a “strength coach”. Brillant!!! Tubby might be “great guy”. So, lets pay him 2.1 M for that job and get John Calapari here!
