Kentucky pulled an 8 seed this year as expected. They were placed in the West region and will face #9 Villanova. The impending (if they were to find a way to win) second round match up would be #1 Kansas. The game will be in Chicago on Friday. More later.
Discuss?
1st update: Seth Davis said Villanova would beat Kentucky during his bracket analysis. More as I hear it.
2nd update: At least ‘Nova isn’t ranked, so maybe we have a shot right?
3rd update: Louisville plays in Lexington on Thursday. Traffic will be fun.
4th update: Syracuse missed the tournament. firejim.com?
5th update: Bob Huggins and K State: Out (do they sell alcohol on Sunday’s in Manhattan?), Jim Calhoun and UConn: Out.
6th update: 104 teams won 20+ games this year.

Well that should just about do it fellow fans. The long wait is finally nearing an end. No way Tubster keeps his job after Nova beats us in the 1st round. Yikes!

Seth Davis is doing like the guys on the ESPN commercials - speaking out of his ignorance, looking for an upset. The real upset could be the streaking Colonels if they catch a sleepy No. 1 seed. Sad that EKU now has that lame trendy Colonel mascot and logo and not the cool one of back in the day. The Cats can beat ‘Nova and Kansas if they show up, and even if some of them don’t show up, they have a great chance to advance to the Sweet 16 from Chicago. Kentucky usually owns Kansas.
Go Cats! Go Colonels! Go Mean Green! Go Cards, even! Go home, Traitor Rick!

A first round exit this year will be a blessing in disguise. When we lose in the first round to Nova’, Ten Loss will finally be gone.
March 11th, 2007 at 6:11 pm
Frank, lets play fairy tale land for a second. Just one question. No other commentary, just a yes or no will suffice.
Would you rather lose in the first round so Tubby would be gone, or have him take the team to the final four(remember we’re in your fairy tale land)?
March 11th, 2007 at 6:19 pm
Anyone who wishes for a team to lose - for any reason - is not a fan of that team. Such a person is not a supporter of that team. Such a person does not deserve to ever celebrate any future win by that team.
Here’s some reality for you - even if the Cats get blown out by ‘Nova and go home, not even getting to the next game, Tubby Smith will still be head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats next year, unless HE decides to move on.
Please tell me you whiners are at least pulling against Duke, Arizona, and the Cards on this one!
You people should be ashamed of yourselves. You tell any of those guys in blue that a loss would be a blessing in disguise. Shame on you. Shame on all of you.

TruBlu Reality Chekker:
Seriously man, what kind of alternate reality do you live in? EKU knocking off UNC? Cats beating Kansas because we’ve “owned” them in the past? I think, perhaps, you are the one in need of a reality check.
March 11th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
I never said I wanted to lose. I said we will lose. Those are two completely different things. I will never root against the Cats, but rooting against them, and realizing how bad we really are, is not the same.
Tubby WILL NOT be the coach of the University of Kentucky next season. And the program will be better off because of it.

YO! TruBlu Reality Chekker!!
Sure, Tubby will be there next year…Take your sanctimony someplace else.
TRUBLUE Fans like me have a RIGHT TO BE ANGRY at the Tubster. With 5 seconds in Regulation against Miss. St. He made 2 fatal COACHING ERRORS!
1. He confused that stellar player Thomas, by calling him off, then back on the box.
2. He didn’t tell anyone to foul the shooter as soon as he touched the ball.
Presto-Bingo - OVERTIME…Thanks to STUPIDY FROM THE UK COACHING STAFF!!
I know most of the players ain’t too bright, but you’d expect the coaches to be.
Just because fans are sick of Tubby and would rather lose a game to Nova than have him back, does not make them bad fans…it makes them wise enough to see the REALITY that UK will NEVER be a CONTENDER until Tubby is GONE…
Hey, if you like being a mid-major and losing 10 games a year, YOU’RE pathetic!! Shame on you!! Shame on You!! Shame on You!!
You’d think a guy named “Reality Checker” could accept the reality.
TUBBY MUST GO…GO BIG BLUE…LOSE ONE SO THAT WE CAN BEGIN TO SALVAGE OUR PROGRAM!!
March 12th, 2007 at 12:11 am
I never wish for UK to lose a game. I am 53 yrs old and have bled blue all my life. I always will. The fact of the matter is, they WILL get beat by ‘Nova, perhaps even get blown out depending on how ‘Nova plays. All I’m saying is, the one good thing that will come of it will be, NO MORE TUBSTER! Now on to other more interesting ideas….who will replace him? Here is my short list in order
1. Billy Donovan-Florida
2. Rick Barnes-Texas
3. Bruce Pearl-Tennessee ( that’s right, Pearl has made that program a force to be reckoned with and, he can recruit!)
4. Bobby Knight-Texas Tech (He may be tough but who would you really want your kid to play for?)
5. John Calipari-Memphis
6. If all these turn us down, and they just may, sell all the property rights you can and bring the gloden boy back to where he belongs….RICK PITINO!
OK, you can all start bashing me now. lol
March 12th, 2007 at 11:30 am
In response to Earl:
I agree with you on Billy Donovan being the #1 choice, but I don’t agree with any other ones.. Here’s the list I like of rumored replacements, in order..
1. Billy Donovan- Florida
2. Mike D’Antoni- Pheonix Suns
3. Tom Izzo- Michigan State
4. Travis Ford- UMASS
March 12th, 2007 at 6:30 pm
Earl 10 losses with the 5th best class in the nation and there a force to be reckoned with? Donovan would never leave Florida. Bobby Knight wouldnt come cause the boosters wouldnt stand for it. Pitino? Thats one that needs no comment. John Calipari is trouble. Saw what he did when UMASS got into trouble under his watch. Bolted. Barnes maybe. Ford is too young and I don’t think him or Pelphery could handle the pressure. Maybe 5 to 10 years down the road. Tom Crean maybe Billy Gilipise maybe.
March 13th, 2007 at 10:46 am
Donovan will win it all again this year and he ha nothing left to prove at Florida. The challenge is there to bring Kentucky back to the top of the mountain and that is what will appeal to Billy. By the way, Billy can do it. The Kentucky men’s basketball head coach next year will be Billy Donovan.
March 13th, 2007 at 3:29 pm
How much do you wanna bet earl?
March 13th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
How about a wild shot?
Pat Head Summitt as the new men’s BBall coach! Winningest coach in history! Oh wait a sec, that wouldn’t work! She would be too tough on our players!
March 13th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
Earl that stupid comment deserves no response.
March 13th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
Hey John chill out! It’s only the internet dude! Relax, this is supposed to be fun and tongue in cheek. No worries!
March 13th, 2007 at 6:50 pm
Besides, Pat Summit would never accept the job anyway! lol
March 13th, 2007 at 7:28 pm
lol ok
March 15th, 2007 at 2:04 am
maybe if Bruce Pearl comes he’ll bring Lofton with him. Since Tubby shoulda got him anyway. I’m still mad about that. How do you miss him? Even worse, how do want to start Ramel Bradley after you let Chris Lofton walk out the door?
March 25th, 2007 at 3:59 am
Do not forget guys but Tubby also over looked the Brewer kid that plays at Florida. He wanted to come to UK.
