Comings and goings

Wednesday, March 29th, 2006

The speculation is starting to fire up about who is going and who is staying. Last week, Adam Williams’ father said that he and Adam needed to discuss Adam’s future with Tubby.

The Rondo-to-the-NBA talk is ongoing. If I were him I’d be outta here. No way he should pass up the guaranteed money of a first round draft pick.

Today in the HL there was a story about whether Rekalin Sims would be transferring. He has been having discussions with his former JuCo coach regarding his future role at UK or otherwise. The JuCo coach said he has been contacted by other schools concerning Rekalin’s availability.

On the radio today I though I heard something about former cat Ravi Moss playing football. No way you say, I must have misunderstood. Sure enough I found this story on LEX18 about it. Rich Brooks says that he thinks that Ravi has enough athletic ability to play wide receiver for the football cats. Let’s see how this plays out. It would be fun to watch.

Rondo draft ranking 03/27

Tuesday, March 28th, 2006

Time for the weekly Rondo draft update. He is at a nice and comfy #15. -2 from last week. What might be bigger news is that he is now ahead of JJ “there IS crying in basketball” Redick. Redick has dropped below Rondo to 16th. One spot ahead of Redick, one spot behind Joakim Noah. Outstanding. Shagari is barely clinging to the 2007 draft board at all. Falling 5 spots from last week down to #59.

The dookies go down

Friday, March 24th, 2006

dookiesThe dookies were taken out last night and by an SEC team no less. LSU left JJ Redick in tears and NCAA titleless for his career. Word is Dick Vitale is inconsolable today. Not only did Duke lose, but his buddy JJ’s college career is oh, ohh, over baby!

Rondo draft ranking 03/20

Monday, March 20th, 2006

Rondo is holding steady at #13 again this week. Now only two spots behind the almighty Redick. On a side note, Shagari is projected at #54 in the 2007 draft. Gotta love upside.

In the end

Monday, March 20th, 2006

That’s it. It’s over. They gave it a good fight, but in the end it didn’t happen. We were all hoping that this would be the game they could put it all together. Just this one game. A win in this one game would make us forget about the rest of the season. It would make all the tough losses worth it just to take out a #1. In the end, the same problems that hampered us all year were still there down to the final buzzer. Sloppy ball handling, Randolph in foul trouble, and at the end; rebounding.

Yesterday before the game I was listening to Larry Glover on 590 WVLK and he said he had the feeling that we were going to win the game. The more I thought about it, the more I convinced myself that we were going to win as well. I guess that’s homerisim at its finest. I’m glad that the game was competitive and wasn’t a blowout as some expected (or hoped for). Now let’s see what Tubby can put together for next year. I’m tired of losing.

UAB 64 - Kentucky 69

Saturday, March 18th, 2006

The Cats took down UAB last night and now have the chance to take on UConn. If you aren’t in the game you don’t have a chance to win, right? Who would have thought that they could win a game with free throws. Shagari Alleyne had a huge impact on the game. This was the type of game that most of the talking heads thought Shagari couldn’t function in. Fast-paced, with a bunch of speedy guards, but he performed effectively under pressure with Randolph in foul trouble AGAIN. Move your feet not your arms, Randolph. Please. On to the round of 32.

Tim Woodburn arrested then fired

Wednesday, March 15th, 2006

590 WVLK’s sports-host Tim Woodburn was arrested and charged with DUI and fleeing and evading police. That’s right, not only did he drive drunk, but he ran from the police. No, no, AFTER trying to evade police in his car by not stopping, he actually ran from the police on foot as the officer was yelling at him to stop. He was caught after unsuccessfully trying to JUMP A FENCE! (Whatcha gonna do when they come for you)

This is the third time in two years that he has had an alcohol related offense. On Monday Cumulus radio fired him from 590. I guess he will join his buddy Angelica St. John on the unemployment line. Classy.
